During the next three weeks (Jan 8, 15, and 22) Pizza & Theology will be hosted by the Gaastra family whose address is:
2749 Coit Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
During these next three weeks we will be showing two movies. The first is “Spirit and Truth,” a film about worship and about how God is to be worshiped. Please come at 6 for pizza, and the movie will begin at 6:30 in order to not go much later than usual. Please RSVP if you know you will be coming this evening. Here is a short blurb about the movie this evening:
Week after week, billions of Christians all over the world gather together in church buildings, homes, and secret locations to participate in an activity that dates back to the creation of the world. They worship. From euphoric emotional rock shows to solemn sanctuaries where men in robes are surrounded by stained glass, philosophies on how we should approach God are all over the map. Does it matter how we worship God? Is it just about our preference? Does God care how He is worshiped?
The second will be a documentary on the Puritans, “Puritan: All of Life to the Glory of God”:
Joyless. Severe. Fanatical. “Haunted by the fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.” That’s the Puritan reputation. But to what extent is that reputation deserved? Drawing on the latest research, and featuring interviews with some of the most celebrated scholars in the field, this beautiful and atmospheric new documentary takes us from the birth of Puritanism all the way through to its influence in the present day.
In February we will begin a new series on the Lord’s Prayer. We hope to see you all there.
