“Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
– Mark 4:3-9
There are multiple ways to be involved in this effort.
1. One way is quite simple – attend the study! We’d love to have you join us as we study the Scriptures and learn of God’s grace and mercy.
2. Another way to be involved is to pray for our fellowship, that as we desire to move toward planting a church to God’s glory, we would remain faithful to the Scriptures in all things, fulfilling the words of Acts 2:42, showing love to one another in Christ Jesus and kindness and hospitality to all who visit.
3. A third way is to invite your friends. If there are any you know who are eager for traditional, Reformed worship that is dialogical in nature (God speaks to his people in worship through Word and Sacrament by His Spirit, and we as his body respond corporately), simple, and covenantal, please tell them about our effort. Please note that we are not meeting for worship yet, but if God chooses to increase our numbers we hope to do so soon with our presbytery’s blessing and permission. In addition if you have a desire to show hospitality and help in the training of young people from Calvin College and the surrounding area please join us.
4. And one more way to help the effort is to consider making a monetary donation toward our end goal of planting an OPC church. If you would like to help us in this way, please send a donation addressed to “Hillsdale OPC” and marked with the memo “Grand Rapids Bible Study” to the following address:
Hillsdale OPC c/o Treasurer 44 Monroe Street Hillsdale, MI 49242
How will this money be used? Right now, praise God, we have very few costs. So we are saving funds in order to call an organizing pastor, and using some funds now to, quite literally, spread the Word.
